Anti-Steroid Messages
One of the largest and most dangerous problems facing our youth today is the increasing use of steroids by high school athletes. A nationally representative survey taken in October 2003 showed that 1.1 million adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 had taken "potentially dangerous performance-enhancing supplements and drugs." More than two-thirds of those surveyed were unable to name any of the potential side effects. What is certain is that teen use of steroids is up, and the understanding of their dangers is down.
